Where to start? I’ve never liked appendix carry. In fact, I hated it. It was uncomfortable, imprinted too easily and reminded me of how much weight I could stand to lose. However, after buying a new EDC, and at the suggestion of a friend (who I’ll discuss later), I contacted GFT and ordered an AIWB holster for my canik MC9 mete prime. Well… not exactly. Ok. So, I know a guy who knows the guy that owns GFT. To the GFT guy; I’m just some guy HIS guy knows. My guy asked that guy if he had the mold for my gun; since it was fairly new to the market. That guy informed my guy that the mold was on its way. A few days later, that guy told my guy to apologize to me, because that guys mold guy sent the wrong mold and it’d be another day or two. (This is going somewhere; trust me.) A few days later, my guys-guy told my guy to tell me to place my order. I placed the order, and the guy had the holster made and shipped within 48 hours. That was outstanding. Let’s be realistic. The basic design of a clamshell kydex holster is pretty universal. What distinguishes one model from another are the little details and the fit and finish. The retention is superb. The edges are smooth and polished. It’s actually comfortable. I’ve worn it at every conceivable position, that could be reached by my right hand; and it’s functional and comfortable in all of them. However, it was born and bred to be at the appendix. & that is where I now carry. To say it’s minimalist, is an understatement. It could not have been made with one less ounce, millimeter, skooch of material; (I’m not sure what kydex is measured in) without compromising its comfort and integrity. Oh. It looks pretty damn cool too. Outstanding!

AIWB Custom Holster for Shield Plus
I changed my carry gun to a Shield Plus 9mm. A lot of holsters out there saying Shield and Shield-Plus are the same DON'T fit the Plus well. The GFT fits PERFECT. Great retention, no binding on draw. I got the team to extend the sweat guard to keep the gun off my skin around the back of the slide and optic. That was an easy process, and I'm very happy with the change. This is my second GFT AIWB holster but won't be my last!
